Many thanks to Jake Castanza at Project First Rate who hosted “Doing business with RHA” a presentation on Procurement and Purchasing and Section 3. Before an audience of more than 65 union contractors, employers, and employees, RHA’s Procurement Manager Ann Johns and CEO, Ron Clewer presented the ins and outs of federal procurement requirements. The goal of the ½ day event was to build bridges with local contractors, boost RHA’s local participation and build completion.

RHA has an intentional focus on driving purchases to local contractors, retailers and service providers to the greatest extent feasible. We continue to seek new ways to continue to this effort and being a great steward of public monies. Many thanks to the contractors who participated. Our relationship with you and our local tradesmen and women is very important… together we can increase the quality of RHA investments in our community, bringing the highest quality possible.

The Section 3 program requires that recipients of certain HUD financial assistance, to the greatest extent feasible, provide job training, employment, and contracting opportunities for low- or very-low income residents in connection with projects and activities in their neighborhoods.
