SUCCESS X THREE

The Rockford Housing Authority is pleased to introduce “Success x three” a training assistance program specifically for public housing residents, Concord, and Housing Choice Voucher holders.

Funds are available to assist with transportation, college courses, technical training, resume and interview preparation, and uniform costs.

Applications will be accepted throughout the year, however cutoff dates of April 15th and October 15th will be utilized for the first and second round of funding decisions respectively.  For more information contact cwitt@rockfordha.org

ROSS I & II PROGRAMS

ROSS I and II Programs are self sufficiency programs that include a five-step process: Life skills, job training, career advancement-long term, search/placement post employment follow-up, self sufficiency and homeownership. Both programs assist with GED training and preparation, adult basic education, money management, Job and opportunity fairs as well as computer training. The Ross II program offers food sanitation training, office technology training, advanced C.N.A. training, independent computer skills courses/certification and OJT opportunities. Ross II still has many openings for public housing residents who are interested in any of the following programs. Contact Ronelia 489-8597, Kevin 489-8791, or Dorla 489-8594 for more information.

WORKSHOPS

Classes and workshops are available throughout the year.  Classes are open to all RHA residents.  Topics include:  budgeting, credit repair, purchasing a home, and relationships.   Please check with your managers or call: (815) 489-8701 for dates,  times, and location.   

The  Annual Opportunity Fair provides a day-long celebration for “Body, Mind, and Spirit".    Facilitators provide professional, educational, financial, and emotional subject matter.  Transportation, meals, and childcare are also provided.  For more information on dates for the fair call Christina Thomas at (815) 489-8596.

 

THE NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORK CENTERS 

The NNC in partnership with Rock Valley College and Junior Achievement will provide computer classes for adults and youth:  Basic skills, keyboarding, employment search, and surfing the internet. There will also be help for students to improve their academics. Neighborhood Centers are located at Fairgrounds, Brewington Oaks, and Orton Keyes.  The Neighborhood Network Centers’ goal is to connect the neighbors of the Rockford Housing Authority with the world.
