The Rockford Metropolitan Agency for Planning (RMAP) is seeking public participation and comment in the form of a digital Transit User Survey that will be used for updating the Coordinated Public Transit Human Services Transportation Plan (HSTP). The HSTP is a federally required transportation planning document for all Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO).
In coordination with the RMAP Mobility Subcommittee, the survey results will help RMAP understand the concerns of the community and address key issues with public transit in Boone, Ogle and Winnebago Counties. Gaining public feedback on user experience, transit accessibility and future recommendations will help in identifying gaps and needs in the public transportation network as RMAP works towards planning a multi-modal and comprehensive transportation system.
Overall, the goal of the plan is to assess the needs of public transportation users in the RMAP region. The plan aims to benefit public transit users as a whole with a special emphasis on transit-dependent populations including elderly individuals, persons with disabilities and individuals with low incomes. Development and updates of the plan help RMAP adhere to federal regulations stipulated by the FAST Act (Fixing America’s Surface Transportation) as signed into law by President Obama December 2015.
The Survey will be available for submittal to RMAP until November 23, 2016.
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your time and concern in this matter of public transportation.
