The Rockford Housing Authority is proud to support and present the Lifeforce Development Institute’s Job/Career Readiness Skills-based training to both RHA Clients and Residents. Today we Interview with RHA’s Director of Human Services, Odessa Walker. The LDI Curriculum addresses the foundational skill gap in the workforce with a 12-week, hands-on learning program covering Job/Career Readiness Skills meeting the community’s workforce goals.

The incentives that all Lifeforce Development Institute participants receive are:
-Transportation within a 10-mile radius
– A weekly stipend provided to the participants
-Breakfast along with snacks are available each day
-Intense case management & a Professional Development Mentor
-Access to employment opportunities through section 3 program
-Voucher to shop for professional attire (3 outfits & a pair of shoes)
-After graduating from the program participants will receive a professional makeover
-After graduating from the program participants will receive a certificate that’s recognized by many employers.
-The participant will also have a preference when registering in the RHA Digital Empowerment Program, where they will have the opportunity to receive a free computer after graduating from the program.

Odessa says the ultimate incentive is the opportunity to become self-sufficient and obtain economic sustainability that will change the quality of life, not only for themselves but generational.
