Rockford Housing Authority’s Phase Plan UPDATE

As our country continues to see a growth in the number of positive Covid-19 cases, we must continue to look at our daily operations and respond accordingly.

Unfortunately, at this time, to protect your health, the health of your loved ones, and our staff, we will not be able to move out of RHA’s Phase I plan at this time. RHA’s offices will remain closed to the public, and our property management and maintenance teams will continue to concentrate on emergency, health, and safety work orders as well as preventative maintenance.  Our Housing Choice Voucher department will continue to perform virtual inspections and only meet with clients on an emergency basis. Our Human Services department will continue to deliver all services virtually and host any event outside, maintaining social distancing, and take all safety measures necessary to ensure suggested guidelines continue to be met. Any meetings, or hearings that must take place in person, can be requested and will be scheduled at the main office to allow for the proper safety precautions and/or measures.

Please be reminded that researchers have said that COVID-19’s rapid spread is likely due to the movements of people with no or very mild symptoms, namely those who are unaware that they even have the virus. That is why social distancing, wearing a face covering, and regularly washing of hands are such important containment measures. Every person who limits their social contact will assist in the containment of the virus. Even if you have no symptoms or feel fine, you must refrain from congregating in common areas (hallways, lobbies, apartments, etc.) There is no question that older people and those with underlying health conditions are most vulnerable to the virus, we must remember to consider that no one is immune. We must also remember that there is a greater public health imperative.

Please, stay safe and be well.

Thank you,

Owen Carter, Director of Housing Operations

Remember: Practice Social Distancing, wear Face Coverings, and regularly wash your hands during this pandemic.
