Rockford chosen for federal community improvement program

ROCKFORD (WREX) -Rockford is joining six other cities around the country as part of the Strong Cities, Strong Communities (SC2) program. The federal program will help Rockford leverage and implement economic development plans in the fields of business, education and workforce training, and public safety. Through the SC2 initiative a team will help augment efforts like Rockford’s partnership with Etsy and provide technical assistance to identify opportunities for growing the local economy and addressing crime prevention.
