Resident Success Story

Every morning, well before the sun touches the horizon, Mr. James Faustin—an RHA resident, devoted husband, and full-time father—quietly begins his day. His warm smile greets his children as he prepares breakfast, ensuring they have everything they need before school. His wife admires how he juggles his responsibilities with grace and kindness, always making sure his family is well taken care of. To them, he is not just a provider but a respectful, well-mannered young gentleman who epitomizes the values of hard work and dedication. 

For many years, Mr. Faustin’s life was defined by his constant search for stable employment. His strong work ethic carried him from one job to another, yet a deeper sense of fulfillment often eluded him. Then, through a recommendation and a bit of serendipity, he was introduced to the possibility of serving as a Community Coach with the Jobs Plus program—a transformative role that would change his path forever. 

As a newly minted Community Coach, Mr. Faustin threw himself wholeheartedly into understanding the needs of his neighbors and helping them navigate opportunities within the community. His dedication, combined with the leadership abilities he honed in RHA’s LDI program, soon caught the attention of his mentors and peers. Recognizing his growing skill set and the positive impact he had on residents, Mr. Faustin was offered an opportunity that truly elevated his career. 

Today, Mr. Faustin works full-time as a Community Service Specialist with YouthBuild Rockford, one of RHA’s valued partners.  

 In this role, he continues to advocate for personal growth and development among community members, guiding them with the same empathy and commitment he shows his own family at home.  

Throughout his journey, he credits the various programs at RHA—like Jobs Plus and LDI—for providing the resources, guidance, and professional development he needed to reach this level of success. 

Mr. Faustin’s story stands as a testament to how unyielding determination, paired with supportive community programs, can transform a person’s life. Whether he’s cheering his children on at a weekend sporting event, sharing wisdom with his neighbors, or leading a workshop at YouthBuild Rockford, he exemplifies what it means to be a steadfast provider, an uplifting mentor, and a shining role model in his community.
