Supporting Resident Pathways Forward

When residents walk into the ROSS (Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency) Program, they often arrive with big goals and real challenges. Many are eager to work, learn, and build a better future for themselves and their families, but the path forward isn’t always clear. That’s where the ROSS Program steps in.

ROSS staff begin by listening. Conversations often start with immediate needs: help completing LIHEAP applications to manage utility costs, updating a résumé, or finding professional attire so a resident can confidently show up for a job opportunity that’s already waiting. These supports may seem small, but for residents, they remove barriers that once felt impossible.

As trust builds, the focus expands to long-term growth.

Through strong community partnerships, ROSS connects residents to education and workforce pathways that create lasting change. One of those key partners is the Lifeforce Development Institute (LDI), which provides residents with structured training, career readiness, and personal development opportunities. For many participants, LDI becomes a turning point helping them build skills, confidence, and a clear direction forward.

Additional partnerships with Comcast and ComEd further strengthen the program, opening doors to industry exposure, workforce opportunities, and real-world career connections. Together, these collaborations ensure residents are not just prepared for employment, but positioned for success.

Behind every connection are dedicated ROSS team members Ms. Amy and Ms. Breanna, who continue to actively engage and enroll residents into the program. They meet residents with encouragement, accountability, and a genuine belief in their potential. Their work goes beyond enrollment; they support residents as they set goals, overcome setbacks, and celebrate progress.

The journey forward looks different for every resident but no one has to take it alone.
