New Rental Housing Platform Coming to Rockford

The City of Rockford has approved an agreement with City Wise Software LLC to launch a new web-based housing platform designed to simplify access to rental housing information.

Once live, the platform will provide a centralized, searchable database of market-rate, affordable, and income-restricted rental units throughout Rockford.

This tool is intended to help residents, including Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) participants and working families, more easily identify housing options that meet their needs.

The platform will be managed by City Wise Software at no cost to the City of Rockford. Funding will come from participating landlords, who will pay a small fee to list their properties, while property owners with fewer than 20 units may list for free. Similar platforms are already operating successfully in other cities, including Cincinnati, Milwaukee County, and Kenosha.

Justin Francis, RHA’s Choice Mobility Manager, noted that tools like this can play an important role in expanding housing choice and improving access to information for voucher holders. By increasing transparency and visibility of available units, the platform supports efforts to help families explore a wider range of neighborhoods and housing opportunities.

RHA will continue to share updates as more information becomes available, including when the platform launches and how residents and landlords can begin using it.
