At the Rockford Housing Authority, providing housing assistance is only the beginning of our responsibility. Stability requires strong systems, responsive communication, and long-term planning. As CEO, I am focused on ensuring that our residents are supported not just today, but through strategic decisions that strengthen housing across Rockford for decades to come.
Residents depend on us for clarity and consistency. When income changes, household circumstances shift, or program requirements feel complex, our teams work to provide direct guidance and coordinated follow-through. We are continuously improving internal communication across departments, so residents receive accurate information, reduced delays, and clear next steps that protect housing stability.
This spring, we are placing a strategic focus on the future redevelopment of the Brewington Oaks footprint. We have formally engaged our architecture and engineering partner to develop a preliminary concept for the 5.54-acre riverfront property. This conceptual phase will determine financial viability, including the number of residential units required to ensure long-term sustainability and operational strength. Once drafted, the concept will be shared with residents, community members, and elected officials to gather input before any further decisions are made.
At the same time, we are beginning preparations for an important milestone: our 75th Anniversary Celebration in July 2026. For seventy-five years, RHA has provided housing where hope and opportunity can thrive. This milestone is not only a celebration of history, but a commitment to continue strengthening partnerships, expanding opportunity, and building stability for the Rockford community.
