Congratulations to Laura Snyder, CEO of the Rockford Housing Authority who attended and received the PHADA Management Certification from the PHADA Rutgers Executive Director Education Program 2020. The conference included three days of engaging education sessions and ample networking opportunities.
The attendees were able to get hands-on education and experience to take back to their organizations. They also acquired new strategies, practices and tools proven to be effective in resident centered approaches for their respective communities as well. PHADA offered two concurrent classes which included Financial Management and the theory behind PHAS/SEMAP which provided a detailed explanation of each of the HUD indicators, including how each is measured and graded. The Section Eight Management Assessment Program (SEMAP) measures the performance of the public housing agencies (PHAs) that administer the Housing Choice Voucher program in 14 key areas. SEMAP also helps HUD target monitoring and assistance to PHA programs.
PHADA’s 1,900-member housing agencies represent over 1.9 million low-income housing units throughout the United States. PHADA’s 2020 Commissioners’ Conference provided the opportunity for over 600 housing authority executive directors, commissioners and staff to meet face to face with their peers to discuss current critical industry issues.
To continue to create strategic partnerships with community stakeholders, design a diverse housing portfolio, leverage social service programming to unite and ensure residents are provided with safe and nurturing environments that lead to self-sufficiency, responsibility, and individual empowerment.
