Building Futures, One Brick at a Time

Breanna

This spring, the heart of our community beat stronger than ever.

On April 17th, the energy was electric at the YouthBuild Open House and Fundraiser. What began as a simple gathering blossomed into a powerful reminder of what’s possible when young people are given a chance—and a challenge. The room buzzed with potential, and for many, it was the beginning of something life changing.

Among the crowd was Jaylen, 19, who once doubted he’d finish high school. “I used to think people like me didn’t get second chances,” he shared. “But YouthBuild changed that. I’m not just learning to build houses—I’m learning to rebuild my life.”

Jaylen’s story isn’t unique. YouthBuild is designed for people just like him—young adults ages 16 to 24 who need help earning a high school diploma, developing workforce skills, and stepping into real career pathways. Whether it’s the first swing of a hammer or the first time writing a résumé, YouthBuild meets you where you are and helps you grow.

This summer, recruitment begins again. YouthBuild is calling out to dreamers, doers, and those ready for a fresh start. If you—or someone you know—needs a second chance and wants to build a real future in construction, now is the time to step up.

Section III continues to support this mission, even as details about recommitting to the Work Experience Program (WEX) are still being finalized. Though the partnership timeline is yet to be announced, Section III remains fully committed to helping with résumés, job search support, and guidance toward meaningful work. The work doesn’t stop—and neither do we.

And that’s not all. As the demolition of the RHA Fairgrounds Valley approaches, Section III is actively seeking contractors who believe in building communities—and are willing to hire YouthBuild participants. This is more than construction—it’s transformation.

Currently, YouthBuild has 36 amazing participants who are working hard, learning fast, and lifting each other up. The excitement is already building (literally and figuratively!) for a huge, beautiful graduation ceremony this August—an event that promises to be as inspiring as it is emotional.

But perhaps the most unexpected part of this year’s journey? The debut of the official YouthBuild Anthem and Music Video, coming soon. Written and performed by the participants themselves, this anthem isn’t just a song—it’s a movement. A voice. A celebration of hope, resilience, and the power of change.

So if you’re reading this and wondering if YouthBuild could be your path forward, we say this:

Yes. Yes, it can. Your story starts now.
