Employment Empowerment Month

It’s Employment Empowerment Month at RHA! We have set up multiple events to help RHA residents prepare for employment, including interviewing workshops, resume assistance, and an RHA community-wide job fair.  The RHA Jobs Plus Initiative sponsors all events.

ABOUT THE JOBS PLUS INITIATIVE

The Jobs Plus Initiative is an opportunity for residents to meet self-sufficiency, offer rent incentives, and have community support for work. The initiative is a free program aimed to help you gain higher wages and increase your income without increasing your rent – with the goal of reaching a self-sufficient living wage. 

The benefit for already employed residents comes when their income increases, as the resident will not see an increase in their rental amount if they increase their income. Jobs Plus employment services are tailored to residents’ individual needs and help you achieve your employment and general life goals.

The Jobs Plus Program Manager, Alex Keedi, said, “The Jobs Plus Initiative is important because I believe employment brings hope and meaning into people’s lives.” Over 71 % of RHA residents have earned incomes that qualify as very low income. Therefore, The Rockford Housing Authority, RHA Jobs Plus Initiative, will incorporate strategies to develop a locally-based work culture for the residents living in the targeted public housing community.

October 12th- Workplace Behaviors & Attitudes

Fairgrounds Valley, 1015 W. Jefferson Street

Every workplace contains a wide variety of people who behave in different ways. By understanding the different types of workplace behaviors, you can help yourself thrive at work.

October 13th – The Workforce Connection & RHA Programs Workshop

RHA Central Office, 223 S. Winnebago Street

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

Come learn about employment services offered by RHA & TWC, including access to industry-recognized training is valued at up to $13,000.

October 19th – Interviewing 101 Workshop

Blackhawk Courts, 338 15th Ave.

12:00 Pm -1:00 PM

October 20th – Resume Assistance

Park Terrace, 1000 Chamberlain Street

Get the help creating a fresh resume! Learning how to format & list experiences in your resume increases your chances of getting the interview you want.

October 20th – RHA Community-Wide Job Fair

RHA Central Office. 223 S. Winnebago Street

Noon – 4:00 PM
