At Rockford Housing Authority, our residents are at the heart of everything we do. Many seniors and community members depend on Medicare for their healthcare needs, yet understanding how it works and how to access added benefits can be overwhelming. For those at North Main Manor and Olsen Plaza, this challenge has been especially real.

Navigating the Complex World of Medicare
For many residents, Medicare can feel like a maze of coverage options, benefits, and requirements. Questions often arise about what is included, what isn’t, and how to make the most of available healthcare resources. The lack of accessible information can lead to missed opportunities for improved care, preventive services, and cost savings.

Oak Street Health and Latisha Moore Step In
Recognizing this need, Latisha Moore from Oak Street Health partnered with the Rockford Housing Authority’s Resident Support Services team to bring clarity and support to our communities. On October 14, 2025, Latisha visited North Main Manor and Olsen Plaza to meet directly with residents.

From preventive care and wellness visits to transportation support and chronic condition management, residents gained a deeper understanding of how Oak Street Health’s approach could

Empowerment Through Knowledge Latisha’s sessions were designed not only to inform but to empower. She invited residents to share their questions and feedback, creating an open dialogue about healthcare experiences and concerns. The discussions helped residents feel more confident in making informed decisions about their care options.

Residents expressed appreciation for the visit and the opportunity to speak directly with a healthcare representative who understood their needs.

A Pause in Partnership
At this time, Oak Street Health will not be returning to North Main Manor or Olsen Plaza until further notice. Rockford Housing Authority remains committed to ensuring residents continue to receive the health education and resources they deserve. We are exploring future opportunities to bring similar informational sessions and partnerships to our communities.
