Rockford Housing Authority Responds to Fairgrounds Fires
Rockford, IL — The Rockford Housing Authority (RHA) is addressing the Rockford community following three fires that occurred, two on Sunday, September 21, 2025 and one on September 22, 2025, at the Fairgrounds property.
The Rockford Fire Department responded promptly to all incidents. The fires affected multiple units along Acorn Street (985, 987, 989, 991, and 993 Acorn St.) as well as units at 816–818 Tanner Court. Fire crews initiated defensive operations and successfully extinguished the fires.
All incidents remain under active investigation. RHA is working closely with the Rockford Police Department to protect its properties and support efforts to identify the individual responsible.
Laura Snyder, Chief Executive Officer of Rockford Housing Authority, stated:
“I am thankful that no one was injured and that we are working with Rockford PD to protect our property and identify the individual responsible.”
