From Opportunity to Independence: Residents on the Rise

Breanna

Residents across Rockford are taking control of their futures—finding meaningful and gainful employment, improving their financial health, and stepping confidently toward economic sustainability. With continued support and access to resources through the Jobs Plus program, individuals are not just preparing for jobs—they’re building careers, managing their finances, and creating lasting change for themselves and their families.

This spring, another exciting opportunity is just around the corner. On May 2nd, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Jobs Plus will host a community-wide Job Fair at the Rockford Housing Authority, located at 223 S. Winnebago Street. This isn’t just a hiring event—it’s a launchpad for personal and professional transformation.

Numerous local employers and resource providers will be on-site, ready to connect with job seekers and share real opportunities. Whether you’re looking for your first job, a career change, or a new beginning, this event is for you. Residents and community members alike are encouraged to attend—and don’t forget to dress to impress. First impressions matter, and this may be the moment that changes everything.

But the momentum doesn’t stop there. Jobs Plus continues to offer financial credit management classes in the coming months. These sessions empower residents to take control of their credit, manage debt, and build the financial foundation needed for future stability and success.

And for families with young people looking ahead, be on the lookouta youth-focused job and resource fair is in the works this August, in collaboration with the ROSS program. More details are coming soon, and it promises to be another exciting step toward empowering the next generation.

Right now, residents are rewriting their stories—finding purpose through work, gaining confidence through financial education, and showing what’s possible when opportunity meets determination.

The future is not just something to dream about—it’s being built today. Join us May 2nd and be part of the movement toward economic sustainability and success.
