Grievance Process: What to Know

At Rockford Housing Authority (RHA), we believe in fairness, accountability, and resident empowerment. If you feel your housing rights under your lease agreement or RHA policies have been violated, you can formally request a grievance hearing. This ensures your concerns are addressed and your voice is heard in a structured, respectful process.

How to File Your Grievance

To begin, submit a Grievance request within 10 business days of the incident or notice. Be sure to include:

  • The reason for your grievance.
  • The specific issue you’re disputing.
  • The outcome you are seeking.

This request can be handed to your property manager or sent to the appropriate RHA contact.

What Happens Next?

Once received, RHA will schedule a hearing at a time and location convenient for both parties.

You will receive written notification with:

  • Your hearing date and time.
  • The location of the meeting.
  • Information about what to expect.

The grievance process follows HUD regulation  and ensures an impartial review.
