Rockford Housing Authority is currently partnered with more than 38 local organizations that help us meet our mission. Everyone in RHA’s system needs quality affordable housing. There are other needs that RHA cannot provide, as part of the current public housing agency structure and requirements. Our community partners help serve the whole person, and provide services beyond housing.

Organizations such as the United Way of Rock River Valley, Habitat for Humanity, Jeremiah Development, and Angelic Organics are vital to RHA’s work. Each organization, focusing on its own strengths, is able to effectively help  RHA Clients.

“Rockford Housing Authority does a tremendous amount in our community that most people don’t even know about. They’re doing work with the schools, they’re doing work with community partners, doing work with the police departments, they’re doing work with a tremendous amount of organizations to make sure that this is the best community that we can make it” noted Keri Nelson, Executive Director of Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity.

“Having amazing partners is really, really essential in the work that we do. We need to take it farther than just having essential partners. Sometimes we just need friends. We need to be partners, day in day out, but be able to bring that service to an individual, is truly essential” stated Ron Clewer.

Making partners and making friends is something we all can do daily to help make Rockford a better place. And making sure we work with our clients, in a client centric, case management system breaks past social service practices of doing things “to” to doing things “for” residents.
