Local Warming Centers

Local organizations are coming together to open an Emergency Cold Weather Shelter at Second First Church, located at 318 N. Church Street. The City of Rockford, the Northern Illinois Homeless Coalition, and Second Congregational UCC/First Presbyterian Church have partnered to provide this vital resource to the community. The Rockford Overnight Cafe returns to the gym at SecondFirst Church beginning January 4, 2023 and will run through March 5, 2023. The operating hours of the Café are 8:00 pm – 7:00 am. The Café is for those 18 years of age and older.

It’s especially important during these times of extreme cold and strong winds, as these conditions can be life threatening. The shelter is only available to adults, and due to limited capacity, anyone currently staying at Rockford Rescue Mission will not be accepted.

If you know of a family with children who are in need of shelter, please call the Homeless Hotline at 1-844-710-6919.
