MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL SPONSORING ESSAY CONTEST
Middle school students in District 205 who hope to make a difference in their community can win big by putting their thoughts to paper. The City of Rockford Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) is sponsoring an essay contest to hear what local students want to see changed in the city.. To enter, the essay must address one of two questions: “What can you, as a youth member of your community, personally do to improve Rockford?” or “What, in your opinion, are the strengths and weaknesses of the Rockford community, and why?”
The essays must include a title and the student’s name and school. They can be handwritten, but typed essays are preferred, and they can be no more than five paragraphs in length. A winner from each grade level will receive a $50 gift card and an Honorable Mention winner will receive a $25 gift card, compliments of the Rockford Housing Authority.
