PRESS RELEASE: COOLING CENTERS

The Centers offer air conditioned relief during periods of extreme heat or whenan Excessive Heat Advisory or Warning is issued by the National Weather Service.

In addition, residents are encouraged to ensure their senior relatives, friends and neighbors, and others whose health may be affected by extreme heat, are safe during high-temperature days. Churches and other organized groups are also encouraged to check-in on the well-being of their members.

Also, ComEd is offering their Hardship program which can provide up to $1,000 on the electric bills of income eligible residents of Winnebago and Boone Counties who can prove a hardship in paying their bill.
