The Rockford Housing Authority staff and family members volunteered to help build a home with the Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity on June 11th! This is part of ongoing events that will be happening throughout the month of June.
The Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing developer and lender. Formed in 1988, Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity is the local Habitat affiliate for Winnebago County, Illinois. Their work is not about houses, it is about homeowners. It’s about the community.
Habitat is dedicated to building homes, neighborhoods, and lives through improved housing opportunity. They build simple, decent, affordable homes to be sold to families currently living in substandard housing. Habitat for Humanity works in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in approximately 70 countries. Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Standing by the Rockford Housing Authority’s continued mission; “A quality home is the foundation of society & community: quality home life provides hope and the pathway to our goals.” We were so grateful to have the opportunity to help another family become Homeowners and cannot wait for the next building day!

To continue to create strategic partnerships with community stakeholders, design a diverse housing portfolio, leverage social service programming to unite and ensure residents are provided with safe and nurturing environments that lead to self-sufficiency, responsibility, and individual empowerment.
