Rockford Housing Authority Responds to Fire at Park Terrace Property

Rockford, IL – October 17, 2024 – The Rockford Housing Authority (RHA) responded to a fire that broke out early this morning at Park Terrace, one of our residential properties. The fire, which was reported at approximately four in the morning, resulted in several individuals sustaining injuries, including one first responder. We are thankful that no fatalities have been reported, but this is a difficult time for our community as the situation is still developing.

Emergency services responded within minutes, and all residents were evacuated from the building. We are extremely grateful to the Rockford Fire Department and our dedicated staff for their rapid and courageous response. The safety of our residents remains our top priority, and we are working closely with local authorities to determine the cause of the fire.

We would like to personally thank Mayor Tom MacNamara for swiftly coordinating with the team at the Nordlof center to provide temporary shelter for those displaced by this incident. Also to the Red Cross for helping meet the needs of our residents. Their support has been invaluable as we ensure that every affected resident has the shelter and care they need during this critical time.
