ROCKFORD HOUSING AUTHORITY TAKES NEW PROACTIVE MEASURES FOR ALL STAFF AND RHA RESIDENTS

During this unprecedented time, the Rockford Housing Authority (RHA) executive team has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety of our employees, clients, and community. Today is no different.

In response to the Covid -19 pandemic, the RHA executive team has previously adjusted our policies and practices, including having many of the RHA staff shift to remote work, and manning our operations offices at fifty percent of normal staffing levels.

We learned today April 27th, that one Rockford Housing Authority staff member tested positive for COVID-19. At this time, no other employee has tested positive. Due to the proactive measures already in place, the single positive case is an employee who had no in-person contact with residents. We are following the Winnebago County Health Department’s guidelines for complete contact tracing.

To ensure the health and safety of you and your loved ones, the RHA Staff and the community in general, RHA will be temporarily closing all offices. With policy provisions already in place, we are confident that we can continue to provide services to our clientele while minimizing the risk of any further exposure.

β€œAs we recognize the constantly changing COVID -19 situation around the world and especially here in our own backyard this is an unprecedented time for all of us, a time filled with complete uncertainty, our thoughts and prayers are with each one of you. The highest concern we have is the health safety and wellbeing of our families, friends, employees, and all the RHA residents which we serve,” states Laura Snyder, RHA CEO.

Continuing Laura states, β€œfollowing the guidelines set forth from our local health experts and the CDC, as a precautionary measure, we have contracted an outside service to sanitize all offices and workstations. Once sanitation is complete and the suggested quarantine time frame has expired, we will look to integrate staff back into offices in phases.”

As information is received our continued goal is to keep you updated via our social media platforms. Also please visit the Rockford Housing Authority website regularly for updates. These are certainly uncharted waters for us all. Our continued hope is for you to remain healthy and safe.

β€œWe are committed to keeping our services up and running. The RHA Staff will continue to work together to ensure that our residents remain our focus and that we collaborate effectively while remaining safely at home,” concludes Laura.

These are challenging and sometimes frightening times, but we feel confident that as an agency and community, we can get through this together. Your support through these difficult times is heartfelt. Please stay safe, stay healthy as we all move forward to normalcy.
