A quality home is the foundation of society & community
The Rockford Housing Authority (RHA) operates on the foundation of ten core values. As mentioned in their mission and vision statements, these qualities drive the organization through each project they complete. These values are denoted in the list below:
This blog series will define each of these values and explain how they relate to RHA’s work.
Caring
Caring, as part of the RHA corporate culture, is a practice for creating conditions that bring out the best in people and 
situations. It is a method that helps people respond to circumstances in ways that create what is possible. To paraphrase John Quincy Adams, “your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more.”
Whether the “caring team” is a work team or an extended family, a board of directors or a brand new community project, understanding and caring for people is part of the RHA Core Values. Caring is the foundation for building 
supportive, effective and a joyful team.
RHA not only models their work through caring but they have shown it by their actions in the community. RHA not only cares about providing safe and affordable homes, we care about building a safe and sustainable community. Rockford Housing Authority has promoted numerous events for the betterment of the community and will continue to do so with strategic community partners.
One of the current initiatives RHA promotes is ConnectHome. This initiative works to expand high speed broadband to more
families. RHA has partnered with internet service providers, non-profits and the private sector to offer broadband access, technical training, and digital literacy programs, and computer devices for RHA residents in assisted affordable housing units. RHA continues to lead by example with caring. We show that by caring about our workers and our residents that we care about our community.
To continue to create strategic partnerships with community stakeholders, design a diverse housing portfolio, leverage social service programming to unite and ensure residents are provided with safe and nurturing environments that lead to self-sufficiency, responsibility, and individual empowerment.

Within 5 years the RHA will re-establish itself as high performing agency that is a leader in housing and sustainable communities by developing additional, non-HUD revenue streams, increasing our asset base and offering state of the art resident initiatives.
