ROCKFORD — Better neighborhood programming and increased inter-agency cooperation are two ways to reduce crime, community leaders and residents said Thursday at a town hall meeting called to discuss violence and criminal activity in the city.
Officials informed residents of anti-crime efforts and listened to various questions and concerns. About 40 people gathered at Rockford Health System’s auditorium to hear eight speakers, including police Chief Chet Epperson, Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana and Rockford Housing Authority CEO Ron Clewer, discuss their ideas and strategies.
