Special Thanks to Rockford Housing Authority Commissioner Phillis Ginestra

Special Thanks to Rockford Housing Authority Commissioner Phillis Ginestra

Phyllis Ginestra was raised in Rockford. Phyllis spent nearly 20 years living and working in cities such as Chicago, Milwaukee, San Jose, New York and Washington DC. She earned her degree in Accounting at Marquette University and set off to places both near and far to continue to learn and grow.

Ron Clewer RHA CEO states, “When I first started at RHA, six years ago, Phyllis was an incredible voice of reason along with Ric, they had been with the agency for quite some time.”

Phyllis chose to return to Rockford in 1996 to raise her family in the city that provided her with the opportunities to succeed and give back some of the gifts she had been fortunate enough to receive. If you ask Phyllis, she will tell you that she was raised to serve all four quadrants of the Rockford community and she continues to work hard in that endeavor by showing up both literally and figuratively and sharing her time and talent where she can.

Phyllis’ travels over her career have afforded her a front row seat watching cities that faced many of the challenges that Rockford currently is addressing. She has seen first-hand how cities like Milwaukee, Omaha, New York City, Philadelphia – to name a few – can revitalize, gentrify and truly change neglected and impoverished neighborhoods as a result of proven (and coordinated) economic and mixed income housing efforts. She is dedicated to helping to bring those same proven results to the Rockford region. She currently works for Ticomix as its CFO. Phyllis has a special passion for technology and volunteering. Phyllis’ travels over her career have afforded her a front row seat watching cities that faced many of the challenges that Rockford currently is addressing.

She also sits on the Boards of Bridge Rockford and the Rockford Housing Development Corporation. “She is willing to make the hard decisions and she also is willing to stand by an agency to execute on those hard decisions so I want to personally thank Phillis for the 11 years of service as a board member” states Ron.
