With the uncertainty of the Section 18 Proposal being approved by HUD, the Rockford Housing Authority has occupied all management and maintenance responsibilities of Brewington Oaks. With the approval of a successful Section 18 Application, the RHA Team will be able to allow the transition of the Low Income Housing Program (LIHP) to Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV).

“Brewington Oaks is a 50-plus year-old development with the capacity of 418 apartment households,” states, Laura Snyder, RHA COO.

“Gorman and Company will remain as management for other RHA properties, while this RHA facility which is two 15-story towers located at 505-515 Seminary Street, mainly inhabited with senior citizens and people with disabilities and currently a third of the mainly one-bedroom apartments are inhabitable,” states Jerry Lumpkins Board Chairmen of the Rockford Housing Authority.

The successful Section 18 proposal will allow for the demolition of Brewington Oaks.
