Rockford Housing Authority and Rockford University football team – Partners for fence painting

Orton Keyes is a public housing development that is home to 175 families.   Each townhome apartment has a small patio surrounded by a fence for privacy, which have been in need of painting. RHA is committed to improving the lives of the residents we serve.  We believe that strong partnerships are the key to overall success for our residents and the greater community.  With that in mind RHA has partnered with Rockford University’s “the Plunge Event”, an annual event for first year students to volunteer in the community.   This year the Football Coach asked if his Team could also volunteer.  Having started this past Saturday, the group completed the painting on Monday.   This is the fourth year that RU’s students have donated their time for community improvement projects at RHA. “Rockford University is a superb example illustrating how RHA has fostered with our strategic partners in the Greater Rockford Area” stated Ron Clewer, CEO Rockford Housing Authority. The Orton Keyes development has a Head Start program and a Rock River Boys and Girls Club which provides educational assistance and activities for the children living at Orton Keyes.  The community center also has various activities and a computer lab accessible to all residents.]]>
