ROCKFORD HOUSING AUTHORITY’S TEN CORE VALUES 

The Rockford Housing Authority (RHA) operates on the foundation of ten core values. As mentioned in their mission and vision statements, these qualities drive the organization through each project they complete. These values are denoted in the list below:

This blog series will define each of these values and explain how they relate to RHA’s work.

Respectful

     Respectful is one of RHA’s core values for many reasons. Respect means a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something. RHA has this respect for our employees, our residents and our community. This isn’t just an unsaid respect; RHA shows this admiration through its actions.

The deep respect for Rockford that RHA has comes from its long history with Rockford. RHA was established in Rockford over 65 years ago. RHA has seen the ups and downs that Rockford has gone through and continues to push for the betterment of Rockford.

RHA constantly advocates for Rockford to become more self-sustainable in building a stronger community.

Since RHA has this deep respect for Rockford it pushes us to continue to revamp our environment inside and out. We strive for our sites to be a respected part of our community that all can be proud of.

RHA also has respect for the environment. RHA joined the Better Building Challenge in 2015. The Better Building Challenge is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and is an initiative “designed to improve the lives of the American people by driving leadership in energy innovation.” The DOE also pushes for “homes, commercial buildings and industrial plants more energy efficient by accelerating investment and sharing of successful best practices.”(DOE). RHA has not only achieved their goal of reducing our energy intake, yet also did it ahead of schedule.
