Rockford Housing Authority is honored to receive the Renewable Energy Urban Initiative Award at the Northern Illinois–Summit and Expo, which was held at Rock Valley College, on Thursday November 5, 2015. This recognition is meant to highlight area individuals, businesses, organizations, and municipalities that have implemented renewable energy projects and practices.

Rockford Housing Authority is accelerating the transformation of urban systems and infrastructure initiatives by helping to solve the most pressing sustainability challenges facing our community today.

“I am honored to be part of an organization and accept on behalf of RHA the Northern Illinois Leadership by Example Award for urban initiatives in renewable energy.  Our agency’s $7.2M energy performance contract is just another sample of our commitment to sustainability and improving the lives of our clients. The money saved through our energy improvements will be reinvested in capital improvements and resident programming sustaining our commitment to both energy and the lives of our clients”, stated Jodi Stromberg, Redevelopment Project Manager.

From deploying resiliency technologies to supporting the community ecosystem, Rockford Housing Authority is developing best practices for overcoming the unique barriers to clean and urban technology deployment in our community. Key to this strategy is supporting our community partners by overcoming barriers to implementation, and a review of state-of-the-art technologies.
